Founded by company President Logan Benjamin in 2015. Logan first operated heavy machinery in high school. After returning from the Marine Corps, he worked for an excavation company in Eastern Oregon. Years later, when he could no longer continue with his current job in the beverage distribution industry due to an injury, he decided to buy his own excavator and started Groundbreaking Excavation.

Together, with his wife, Heather, he runs Groundbreaking Excavation from their home in Lyons, Oregon.

Logan and Heather have 3 children, a son in the Marine Corps and 2 school-age daughters.
